Nov. 30 - 7pm, Dec 1 - 2pm & 7pm, Dec 2 - 2pm: Mojalet will premier Inevitable Acclimation, a new work inspired by the ever-changing technology that impacts our daily lives. Change is constant, and acclimation is inevitable. Since the Industrial Revolution, technology has impacted our lives and environment causing rapid change on a global scale. The full company perform work that begins with a Steam Punk feel reflecting on the fast pace that technology has transformed our lives. Moments is a new work inspired by the complexity and beauty of navigating relationships through various chapters of life by Artistic Director, Faith Jensen-Ismay with the company of nine dancers.
Blythe Barton Dance will present three dynamic dance works. 8x8by6 is the visual embodiment of a multilayered a Capella score. Bodies and voices intermingle in complicated layers as unique sound and movement vocabulary interweave. Dancers often pause as if soaking up the sound before taking flight again. I Get Along, vibrates with the raucous energy of Nina Simone. Dancers in vibrant tulle skirts dance until out of breath, in this densely choreographed piece. They fall breathlessly as if unable to go on, and yet, they gather themselves to rise once again, as if reflecting on their journey and refusing to give up. In a new work, Blythe collaborates with the performers to create in reaction to her own #metoo experiences. Not a single human is untouched by these turbulent times and the memories that are provoked.
