Alexander Technique looks at the way we carry out our intentions - consciously, unconsciously or even preconsciously. Beginning with the assumption that we are perfectly designed for movement and balance, we engage our mind to undo layers of interference, creating opportunity for understanding how we use (or misuse) ourselves, as well as for self-reflection and profound self knowledge that is deeply helpful for the artist.
Shelley Senter is an independent and collaborative dance artist whose work has been recognized for its distinct approach to movement, performance and pedagogy. She is a LOWER LEFT collaborator and a living archive and repetiteur of the seminal choreography of Trisha Brown and Yvonne Rainer, among others. She has been investigating the application of the principles of the Alexander Technique to the performing body and mind for three decades, influencing artists across genres and disciplines.
