Body-Mind Centering Workshop with Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen

  • San Diego State University, ENS 200 5500 Campanile Drive San Diego, CA, 92116 United States (map)

An intimate web of structure and function supports our central core. This core
extends from the center of our pelvic diaphragm to the center of our cranium. It
weaves together our pelvic, thoracic, vocal, oral and cranial diaphragms, and our
organs.

Our peritoneal sac embracing our organs, began as an early embryological
membrane surrounding and protecting our self‐nourishing yolk sac. Our bones
provide the strength and leverage to stand upon the earth and to reach
outward into space. In this workshop we will explore the dynamic interweaving
of these structures through movement and touch.

This workshop is for people who have some experience with movement, dance,
yoga, bodywork, body psychotherapy and other psychophysical practices. No prior experience with the Body‐Mind
Centering® approach is necessary. Come share with curiosity and a sense of inquiry about movement, touch, the body and
consciousness.

Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen is a movement artist, researcher, educator, therapist and developer of the Body‐Mind Centering®
approach to movement and consciousness. In 1973 she founded The School for Body‐Mind Centering®. Her work has
influenced the fields of dance, bodywork, yoga, body psychotherapy, infant and child development and many other body‐
mind disciplines. She is the author of the books, Sensing, Feeling and Action and The Mechanics of Vocal Expression and
