Luna Dance Institute is Now Hiring

Luna offers full-time employment to dance teaching artists and educators who have the capacity to teach in our programs--Studio Lab, Early Childhood, Schools & Community centers and/or MPACT (Moving Parents and Children Together) as well as take on administrative duties on behalf of the organization. Currently, we seek two persons with strong desire to teach; one with experience/ interest in professional development, the second with experience/interest in community relations.

Teaching Duties:

  • Will be assigned individualized teaching schedule in any or all program areas, teaching creative- standards-based dance curricula to children 2-17 years of age
  • Curriculum planning, reflection and evaluation

Required skills

  • Minimum 5 years' experience teaching children
  • Understanding of and commitment to LDI mission, vision, philosophical approach
  • Ability to work as vibrant team member of learning organization
  • Ability to take personal responsibility for work product and decisions
  • Good people skills: patience, communication, flexibility, collaboration
  • Completion of LDI foundations workshop series, or intention to do so
  • Good verbal and writing skills
  • Minimum 2 year commitment
  • Able to work some Saturdays and evenings as needed
  • CA driver's license and access to vehicle

POSITION #1

  • Teaching as described above PLUS
  • Assist Program Manager in all aspects of on-site programming, including registration, promotion, customer relations, facility maintenance and rentals
  •  Record keeping and documentation of all Studio Lab and Professional Learning activities
  • Team-based administrative work involving fundraising, community relations, onsite events

  • Professional development workshop facilitation
  • Spanish speaking

POSITION #2

  • Teaching as described above PLUS
  • Assist Director of Community Engagement and Communications Manager in all aspects of public and community relations
  • Fundraising including grant writing, individual solicitation, event planning
  • Marketing such as design and distribution of marketing materials such as fliers, messaging on ads or social media
  • Team-based administrative work involving community relations, onsite events

Recommended skills position #2

  • Experience teaching dance in urban schools or community centers
  • Experience working with children with special needs
  • Grant writing or other fundraising experience
  • Graphic design or marketing experience
  • Spanish speaking

Compensation: Starting salary $40-45,000 based on full-time equivalent-negotiated to percent of time and commensurate with experience, and position. Benefits include paid time for collaboration, reflection, meeting & staff development; 8 paid holidays; sick leave; paid time off/vacation; retirement plan; health and vision insurance plans (after probationary period).

Start date: May 2015 (position #1), August 2015 (position #2)
